Fairer Health For All
Fairer Health for All is Greater Manchester’s (GM) response to ‘Build Back Fairer’, a series of national must-dos and regional ambitions to advance equalities across our city region, as well as a system-wide commitment to address root causes of ill health and inequalities and create a healthier, cleaner, and greener place to live, for all.
Entry Requirements
- NHS Staff including GM ICP strategy development team, exec team, public health, equality diversity and inclusion staff, people and culture teams, comms, and engagement
- Primary care: GP, dental, eyecare, community pharmacy
- Secondary care: Planned elective care, emergency care, mental health
- Community health: DASS, child health services, sexual health, district nurses, social prescribing, and community connectors
- Public Health Leaders in place – and including GMPHLN, cross service local authority engagement
- Voluntary, Community, Faith, and Social Enterprise sector – Equality Alliance
- GM Housing Providers
- Local infrastructure organisations
- Commissioners
- Cost of living and citizen advice organisations
- GM residents
- GM Chambers of Commerce and GM
- Businesses
Programme Overview
- Designed as a comprehensive, in-depth learning and development opportunity
- Enables learners from a non-public health background to develop their knowledge and skills in population health, equality and sustainability.
- Open to people from a wide range of backgrounds, including clinical and managerial staff and people working in the VCSE sector.
- Hope to attract an applicant pool that mirrors the communities we serve.
- A limited scheme started in 2022/23 as proof of concept.
- Plan to offer 20 fellowships in early 2024, prioritising staff working within community and Primary Care settings in the first cohort of the programme.
- Develop a substantive scheme across the next 3 years increasing capacity for up to 30 GM fellows.

To socialise the Fairer Health for All framework including raising awareness of its principles and priorities, as well as its origins.
