I started my career in a busy London teaching hospital as a paediatric staff nurse. Although I loved this, I always knew I wanted to work in the community and soon moved to work as a Children’s Community Nurse with a wonderful team in Hertfordshire. This role was varied and allowed me to develop many clinical skills, as well as gain my MSc in Specialist Community Nursing. I also found a love for supporting pre-registration and post-registration students and through further education and training became a Practice Teacher – a role I really enjoyed. My family then relocated to Manchester and I briefly worked in the private healthcare sector before coming back to my passion for educating and training the future workforce. I am passionate about making sure learners have access to quality learning environments and have the right support to enable and empower them. In my current role I work with many different people and I love the creativity and passion that is driving the primary care workforce at present – we need to make sure that we can show off how primary care works and the opportunities of progression available to secure our future workforce.
