Mentoring vs Coaching
Mentoring is a process where someone with more experience supports another’s development outside of their normal line management relationship.
Mentoring vs Coaching
Coaching is a process that allows a person or a group to reflect and gain awareness of who they are and identify:
- What is important to them
- Their strengths
- Any challenges
- The options open to them
- The actions they can take to improve their work or home life.
Mentoring using Coaching
The mentor will:
- Own the process for providing the mentorship
- Remain neutral
The mentee will:
- Define and own the content and focus
- Have the resources they need to succeed
- Complete tasks and be responsible for their workload
